Today is the forth day for baby’s Streptococcus B test. Doctor said they need 5 days to get the lab result from Kuala Lumpur, our capital city. But they will try to contact the lab today to check whether result is out.
So I called them this morning. But the nurse said no one pick up the phone at lab. Looks like we have to wait for another day for the test result. Two more antibiotic jabs for our son
Another bad news
Unfortunately, the nurse also told me, “Your son is now undergoing photo therapy for jaundice. He started this therapy yesterday afternoon. And his bilirubin level was 13 mg/dL. Below 11 mg/dL is normal.”
“Huh?” I said. “I thought the previous test was normal?”
“Yes it was,” the nurse replied. “On the fourth day, it was 7. But yesterday, it was 13. Sometimes jaundice develops after a week.”
“So many days should he receive the photo therapy?” I asked.
“3 days starting from today,” the nurse replied. “If further test shows normal level, he can go back.”
After that, I told my wife about this. And she was sad. She hoped to bring back our son today. But now she has to wait for 3 more days for the photo therapy.
Upon further discussion, we decided to wait for the infection test result tomorrow. If the result is negative, then we’ll bring back our son for photo therapy in Kluang, our hometown. With that, we don’t have to travel to and fro Batu Pahat town.
Hopefully, everything will go smooth tomorrow.
